Kinghorn Loch Wildlife Group
The Kinghorn Loch Wildlife Group was established on Facebook in 2021 as a forum for sharing news and photos and to provide representation for the loch's fauna and flora. By the end of 2022 the group had over 300 members and had grown legs to include "Kinghorn & District", although the birds of the loch are the main focus. Particular favourites are the nesting great-crested grebes and mute swans, and the kingfishers which are regular visitors during the winter. In cold spells the loch normally retains open water when all the other local lochs and reservoirs are frozen. Large influxes of wildfowl arrive at these times, occasionally attracting rare species (and birdwatchers!).
