Kinghorn Radio Sailing Club
RSC was formed in 2015 by three former yacht sailors who decided Kinghorn Loch was the place to continue their new sport of radio controlled model yachting. Previously the three had travelled outwith Fife to compete in sailing events.
Kinghorn loch offers lovely quiet surroundings with a long level boating pier and a not too sheltered aspect which provides good racing winds.
We have our own designated slot on Saturday afternoons when there are usually just a few fishermen on the opposite side of the loch. It's an ideal spot for radio sailing.
Radio controlled sailing uses the same principles as large yacht sailing, except the boats are controlled from the shore by a radio transmitter. The boats are one metre in length and can be made from special kits, with hulls of either glass fibre or wood. It is a inexpensive sport, with second hand boats costing a few hundred pounds but, as with all sports, as you progress to the higher levels of competition, the costs increase.
KRSC are hoping to attract new members to the sport and anyone interested can visit the loch on a Saturday between noon and 4.00pm to find out more or contact their Facebook group page.
